About the Artist & Artwork

Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706–1783) was a celebrated German painter known for her luminous botanical studies painted in watercolor and gouache. Working in 18th-century Nuremberg, she came from a family of artists and was admired for her ability to capture both scientific accuracy and delicate beauty.

This particular work, Blooming Pomegranates with Magpie Moth and Blue Hawker, showcases her signature style: richly detailed florals and insects set against a dramatic dark background.
